1 Why does the ACRI need a major fundraising campaign?

Based on its research development plan for 2007-2012, the ACRI has identified a list of needs totalling $8.5 million. The Institute has a duty and a commitment to inject its team with new dynamism and the means to maintain the high quality of its research activities. The campaign is therefore essential for supporting these efforts. In addition, this contribution has a significant leveraging effect as it provides the necessary means to access matching funding from government research grants.

2 What is the relationship between the ACRI and the Beauséjour Regional Health Authority and the universities in the region?

The ACRI is a private and independent organization that was established by the Beauséjour Regional Health Authority. In addition to a collaborative partnership with this Authority, the Institute also benefits from partnerships with the universities in the region, all of which creates a synergy that serves to increase the health research potential of all involved.

3 If the campaign exceeds its objectives, what will the ACRI do with the new money?

In addition to its pressing needs totalling $8.5 million, the ACRI has identified two other projects that are also part of the Institute’s current needs. The total for the other projects or needs is $6 million. In all cases, the ACRI will respect the wishes of donors as to the allocation of their donations.

4 Who is being invited to contribute to the major fundraising campaign?

In addition to contributions from members of the Board of Directors, the Beauséjour Regional Health Authority and its Foundation and ACRI personnel, we are seeking the support of local, regional and national businesses, business people, private foundations, financial institutions and anyone who wishes to support the development of cancer research in this region.
